Counselling and supervision sessions can take place remotely either by online video call (usually Zoom) or by telephone. Working this way offers all the benefits of face-to-face appointments with the added convenience of not having to travel. I enjoy working effectively with clients all over the UK and further afield. Please do get in touch if you are interested in finding out more.
I also offer Face to Face sessions from my first floor therapy room in Tring, Hertfordshire (HP23 5ED) and Walk and Talk sessions in Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire (HP22 5).
I am a qualified Integrative Clinical Supervisor offering both one to one and group supervision for qualified and trainee counsellors. I work with individuals for one to one supervision sessions, either fortnightly or monthly. In addition, I run some monthly group supervision groups for a local Education Support Service for counsellors working with young people and adults, and also for a local school.
Regular clinical supervision is a requirement for registered members of most professional counselling bodies (such as the BACP, NCS or UKCP).
Clinical supervision is regular scheduled time to review client work, to consider the client/counsellor relationship and to sustain good practice as safely and as ethically as possible. The supervisor and counsellor work together to ensure the client is kept at the heart of the work. It gives safe space to explore and navigate as best as possible any ethical issues that may arise for both client and counsellor. Part of the work may involve considering areas for personal and professional development, as well as to ensure skills and knowledge are kept up to date. Supervision also enables the counsellor to safely consider their own personal resources to sustain their work and their client load.
Using an Integrative supervision model enables us to have a thorough exploration during our work together. I aim to offer collaborative and congruent relationship, where you feel safe, supported, and encouraged in your work and practice. Also, that you feel empowered to challenge, grow and explore any issues that arise. I welcome feedback in the work we do together. I believe this collaborative relationship, and safe space is vital in the work we do as therapists.
I use the 7 Tasks of Supervision (Carroll) as a framework, and integrate 3 supervision models: the 7 Eyed Model (Hawkins & Shohet) , The Cyclical Model (Page & Wosket) and the Functional Model (Proctor).
